When the process rules out a wetted sensor

Hot, pressurized or difficult media can make a conventional instrument connection a major maintenance decision. The Gammapilot FMG50 uses radiometric measurement outside the process boundary. The family supports continuous level, point level, interface and density duties in liquids, solids, suspensions and sludge. Selecting the measuring task comes before selecting detector length or approving a replacement.

What the FMG50 family brings to the project

These are family capabilities, not a decoded specification for FMG50-AABADJACA. Detector type, measuring length, electronics, certificates and supplied accessories must be confirmed from the configured order and manufacturer documentation.

Why an external instrument still needs process data

External mounting avoids a wetted sensor, but it does not remove engineering work. Vessel or pipe dimensions, wall construction, insulation, medium properties and the source-to-detector arrangement affect the measurement design. The detector's ambient temperature limit must also be respected near a hot vessel. Treat source, detector, mounting and calibration requirements as one application review.

The FMG50 is the receiving detector/transmitter. A compatible radiation source and source container form a separate part of a radiometric system; do not assume they are included in a detector quotation. Existing source details and any requirements for licensed handling should be reviewed by the site's qualified radiation-protection personnel.

FMG50 buying questions

Is FMG50 an ultrasonic or radar level sensor?

No. Gammapilot FMG50 uses the radiometric principle. It is a different measurement technology from Prosonic ultrasonic devices and Micropilot radar devices.

Does FMG50 contact the process medium?

The detector is mounted externally for non-contact measurement. Installation geometry and ambient conditions still need to be checked for the application.

Does the transmitter quotation include a radiation source?

Only when the agreed supply scope explicitly includes it. Request a written scope covering detector, source/container, accessories and documentation before comparing quotations.
